Job Description: General Manager

Hours: 40 hours per week  
Salary: £55,000 - £65,000 based on experience

Company Overview

My client is a dynamic and growing cabinetry joinery company based in East London. The company has expanded from a single full-time team member to ten in just three years, becoming one of the most in-demand workshops in East London. They provide bespoke fitted furniture for residential and commercial projects, including kitchens, wardrobes, and commercial cabinetry. The team includes a Managing Director, General Manager, CAD designer, Head Joiner, Workshop Team of 5, and a Bookkeeper.

Role Overview

As the General Manager, you will play a crucial role during a period of continued growth, welcoming new team members and managing larger, more complex, and higher-value projects. You will partner with the Head Joiner to manage all aspects of joinery project delivery, ensuring the smooth operation of the company’s joinery production, finishing, and installations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management and Scheduling

- Coordinate the team and external collaborators to ensure smooth delivery of joinery production, finishing, and installations.
- Monitor and update the company schedule.
- Maintain excellent communication with clients throughout the process.
- Oversee design and material sourcing outside the scope of regular suppliers.
- Confirm installation dates, schedule, and manage installers.
- Organise post-installation snagging.

 Pricing

- Provide clients with quotes, follow up, and secure sales.
- Respond to client queries and schedule meetings to establish project scope.
- Attend development meetings to identify client needs.
- Complete confirmation administration.

Finance and General Administration

- Organise financial paperwork for clients and manage the back office function.
- Issue project financial statements and invoices, ensuring timely payments.
- Monitor company phone and email accounts, ensuring queries are answered or redirected appropriately.
- Maintain and archive company files.

Team Management and HR

- Act as the management contact for the team.
- Lead team meetings and attend annual appraisals.
- Encourage team communication and collaboration.
- Log staff hours and overtime for the accounting team.
- Organise team events.
