The Electrical & Lighting Designer supports the Creative team and Project managers to develop standout and viable designs. They complete site surveys to enable the production of drawings and plans for in house works and onsite installations. They will continuously look to improve the presentation of our work by sourcing new products and developing new ideas into a reality. During Installs, they will support site teams ensuring plans are adhered when installing electrical designs. They will enjoy and be skilled in undertaking fault diagnosis and implement preventative maintenance across a wide range of electrical installations.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
General Administration
Carry out site surveys with PMs to obtain site specific information to facilitate design.
Create uniform Electrical plans & drawings for all projects.
Use templates to improve clarity and organisation.
Keep project electrical information organised and archive out of date information in Job Folders.
Review Installations with site Electricians and identify deviations from Electrical plans. Alter plans subsequently.
Communication
Communicate regularly with Senior Managers, Project Managers, and production staff.
Attend meetings to enable design work or to update the Electrical team.
Carry out client liaison to support with design and planning.
Electrical
Research & Development
Experiment and prototype with new or existing products to inspire the Creative team or enable a better use or application.
Form strong working relationships with trusted suppliers.
Obtain quotes from suppliers.
Source new or replacement products to improve designs or make cost savings.
Make sure adequate IP rated products are used for exterior application.
Electrical Design (Production)
Design the electrics for a decoration, take into consideration the practicalities and aesthetics in equal measure.
Place orders on SAGE. Consider lead times in line with the Production schedule.
Develop decorations through prototyping, make sure adequate testing is carried out before the scheme goes into production.
Work closely with the Creative team and clients to program lighting designs for permanent or temporary installations.
Work closely with Technical Designers to marry up the Electrical Design with the Technical Design.
Create Electrical Schematics or Production guides when required.
Brief electrical plans into PMs and Electricians before work commences.
Electrical Design (Onsite)
Design temporary or permanent electrical supplies in line with UK standards and regulations.
Calculate cable runs and provide the electrical team with a breakdown of the cables & connection boxes required for site.
Produce electrical plans and drawings for onsite installation teams.
Instruct Electricians onsite to install temporary electrical supplies. (This may involve night work)
Oversee the maintenance of schemes once they have been installed. Plan and oversee fault finding to complete remedial works.
Consider the removal of supplies, instruct PMs and electricians to remove temporary supplies when necessary.
