Role Electronics Technician/Service Engineer
Role Introduction
We are a global specialist in designing and manufacturing door systems for mental health hospitals and secure facilities where patient safety is a priority. Our team is guided by three core values:
Our unique door systems come fully assembled, often with anti-barricade hinges, ligature pressure sensors, and other specialised hardware requiring a high level of expertise to ensure proper operation.
With an expanding team, we’re excited to introduce a new role for an Electronics Technician covering the South.
### Role Objectives
Our door systems meet increasing demand for electronic solutions, such as access control and sensor-based ligature alarms, to detect and alert on pressure at the door’s edges. The role focuses on three main objectives:
1. Installation – Provide both desk-based and on-site installation assistance for installation teams.
2. Service – Support and guide third-party contractors.
3. Maintenance – Travel to sites across the UK to resolve malfunctions after system installation and commissioning.
This role will report to the Project Management Team, covering the South and South/West regions.
Experience & Attributes
- Electrical/electronic experience with LV alarm systems in hospital/healthcare settings; experience in challenging behaviour environments is beneficial but not essential.
- Comfortable with nationwide travel, including frequent overnight stays and occasional air travel.
Key Skills
- Measure AC/DC voltages and cable resistances using a multimeter.
- Replace electronic devices and power supplies, trace cables, and troubleshoot open/short circuits.
- Remove doors from hinges to access internal components for repairs.
- Conduct retesting, demonstrate fixes, and communicate clearly with personnel.
- Able to work independently or in small teams across various sites.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on completing tasks within set timelines.
- Full UK driving license.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements on-site.
- Familiarity with reporting systems like Fieldview or similar for quality and snagging control (tablet-based reporting coming soon).
- IT literate and familiar with basic MS Office applications.
- Comfortable with the fast-paced and varied demands of maintenance work in the mental health sector.
Remuneration Package
- £40,000 - £42,000 per annum (DOE)
- Company van and tools provided, with the option to use personal hand tools.
- 20 days’ annual holiday plus bank holidays.
- Monthly performance-based bonus.
