Role Overview: As a Fabricator/Welder, you'll play a vital role in our Metal Workshop, providing a wide range of services from machining components to constructing both light and heavy gauge structures. Your work will contribute to the success of various projects passing through our workshop.
Position Details:
Salary: Up to £15.39 per hour, with overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours.
Hours: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, with regular overtime opportunities, which may include weekends.
Location: Tockwith, near York.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate mild steel, stainless steel, and aluminum components to high-quality standards, following provided specifications.
Utilize hand and power tools to grind, sand, polish, and detail fabrications to the required finish.
Work independently when necessary, demonstrating problem-solving skills and decision-making ability.
Follow daily production plans to meet project deadlines and ensure accurate record-keeping in the internal database.
Communicate effectively with Department Supervisors, sharing job progress and addressing issues.
Maintain flexibility to assist other departments or supervisors as needed.
Adhere to Health & Safety Regulations and promote a safe working environment.
Uphold housekeeping standards by following 5S and Environmental procedures.
Person Specification:
Knowledge: Understanding of materials, steel grades, and metallurgy. Familiarity with metalworking machinery and equipment. Ability to recognize welding symbols and specifications.
Skills: Excellent welding and fabrication skills, including MIG, TIG, Aluminum, and Stainless Steel. Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and delivering high-quality finishes. Strong teamworking skills.
Desirable Qualifications: Forklift (FLT) license, coding experience, and Health & Safety training.
Experience: Previous experience in a workshop environment, producing bespoke components and structures, working with varying production deadlines and changing specifications. Familiarity with positional welding is advantageous.
